History
Why? When? Who? What? How?
In the Department of History our students learn to work as real-life historians. They search for clues, assess evidence, analyse sources, develop arguments, and investigate the answers to some of the most hotly debated historical questions ever asked. In Key Stage 3 our students study British History from the Battle of Hastings right through to the Battle of Britain. Along the way they also study Ancient Rome, the slave trade, the Holocaust, and the Cold War. Students also study History in a less traditional thematic way. They explore the development of key themes throughout history such as health and medicine, crime and punishment, and the role of the individual. At GCSE our students study Modern World History in a way that helps them to understand the world we live in today. Finally at A Level our students can continue their passion for History or apply their knowledge to the present day by studying Government and Politics.
