Science

Science is a popular and successful subject at Valentines with students achieving consistently an average of 66% A* - C in double award modular science over the last three years. The department is currently following the AQA syllabus and offers separate sciences to the most able students. Results at KS3 have also shown progressive improvement, most recently standing at 82% 5 - 7. Chemistry, Biology and Physics are also popular at Advanced level, with a BTech First National Diploma in Applied Science offered as an alternative to students who prefer a more vocationally based post 16 course. All staff have a commitment to extra-curriculum provision with a programme of twilight and school holiday revision sessions offered at all levels. The department has active links with feeder primary schools providing support for KS2 delivery and running a Space School during the Autumn half-term holiday.
