The English Department at Valentines is a successful and innovative group of teachers. We have a well established team of practitioners who can work together well and share their enthusiasm for their subject with staff and pupils alike. We believe that Speaking and Listening, Reading and Writing are all vital skills for the 21st century and are fully inter-linked. Therefore, we use a variety of active learning strategies to involve pupils in lessons and to maintain their interest. We have well resourced, carefully planned schemes of work for all Key Stages and meet frequently to collaborate. We are committed to improving the English skills of all pupils, at whatever stage of English acquisition and ability, and work with pupils to achieve this aim.
