Curriculum Intent for Geography
We believe that Geography helps to provoke and answer questions about the natural and human worlds, encouraging students across all key stages to develop a greater understanding of their world and their place in it. All the while, giving them an insight into current affairs which helps to build on their tolerance and empathy for different cultures and create global citizens. Geography helps to develop a range of investigation and problem-solving skills that are transferable to other curriculum areas and will ultimately provide pupils with meaningful qualifications.
We seek to inspire in children a curiosity and fascination about the world and its people which will remain with them for the rest of their lives and ultimately give them the motivation to want to travel and experience what they have learnt in geography first hand. We aim to develop conscious citizens who have an understanding of the impact their actions have on the world, no matter what ability or background. Geography students leave us with the experience and skills needed to contribute fully to society and the world of work.
