IOE Lead Partner Direct at Valentines High School
What is IOE Lead Partner Direct?
IOE Lead Partner Direct (IOE LPD) is a postgraduate fee-funded route into initial teacher training that is run in partnership between IOE, UCL’s Faculty of Education and Society, and Valentines High School (the Lead Partner School). This was formerly known as Schools Direct.
Who is the IOE LPD for?
Applicants who apply for IOE LPD often do so because they want to learn to teach in a specific secondary school, and to potentially gain employment there at the end of the course.
Who can apply?
Like the communities we serve, we are proudly diverse, inclusive, welcoming and keen for our teaching workforce to reflect our vision and values. Whatever your background or experience, if you want to make a difference to the life chances of young people through inclusive inner-city education in a vibrant school community, then read on to find out more about the opportunities available right now.
How is IOE LPD different to UCL’s other Primary and Secondary PGCE Programmes?
IOE LPD follows the same structure as the core PGCE route. Student teachers attend teaching days at IOE alongside other student teachers on the core PGCE. However, IOE LPD is different to the core PGCE in that applicants apply directly to the Lead Partner school and we also arrange your contrasting teaching placements.
What qualifications will I get?
Successful completion of the programme leads to a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) awarded by UCL and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
